Porcelain veneers are an extremely effective option for transforming a patient’s smile. Choosing the veneer option for your cosmetic dentistry needs will yield great results with little down time. Stained, chipped, or broken teeth can all be virtually erased. You can even reshape and lengthen teeth without the use of braces by opting for porcelain veneers. Dr. Engelberg, your Arlington Heights dentist, is proud to offer beautiful, natural, customized porcelain veneers to his patients.
What Are Veneers?
Porcelain veneers are made of ceramic that has been pounded into wafer-thin shells. When adhered to your teeth, veneers provide a natural-looking new smile. Dental veneers are surprisingly durable, but still delicate and aesthetically pleasing. In usually two visits, a smile can be restored, or made to look better than ever, with porcelain veneers. A realistic-looking smile makeover is the goal for many of our patients. With a more discerning and informed society, people understand that their friends, co-workers, and family will be able to tell if their cosmetic dental work appears unnatural or obvious. Buffalo Grove dentist, Dr. Brent Engelberg, understands that you want a better-looking smile, not a conspicuously faux grin or a mismatched dental restoration. That’s why our team uses some of the most high quality materials and meticulous techniques for offering you a natural-looking smile makeover.
Perfectly Matching a Porcelain Crown
Marti had always felt her dental restoration stood out among her natural teeth. After a childhood injury to her front tooth, she had a variety of different dental crowns placed that never quite matched the rest of her smile. This is a common problem for patients with dental work on only one front tooth. Matching these adjacent front teeth requires experience and skill. Unlike her previous dentists who had focused only on the injured tooth, Dr. Engelberg improved her smile with porcelain veneers, dental bonding, and a flawlessly color-matched crown.
The Advantages of Experience and Patience
One of the ways that Dr. Engelberg has ensured the highest quality of cosmetic dental work for his patients, old and new, is by partnering with one of the premiere ceramists in the country. Brad Jones, FAACD is so skilled, he creates real-looking, natural-feeling dental restorations and prosthetics that will amaze you. High standards and a focus on patient satisfaction are a common goal of Brad Jones and Dr. Engelberg. This is what may set us apart from some other cosmetic dentists who might be focused on speed and cost-cutting as opposed to quality and happy patients. Just as Marti was happy with her new veneers, we send patients out of our office on a daily basis that can’t wait to flash their updated grins to every person they pass by.

In some respects, all dental treatments can be considered cosmetic dentistry. Restorative dentistry can remove unsightly tooth decay, replace missing teeth, or build back chipped tooth structure. In addition, when you feel your best, you can smile your best, without the discomfort of toothache or tooth loss. Our cosmetic and restorative dentist, Dr. Brent Engelberg, provides comprehensive dentistry that enhances your oral health and your image.

If you are a frequent reader of our dental blogs, you know that smoking can be dangerous to your oral health and ruin the aesthetics of your smile. After years of tobacco staining developed conspicuous discolorations to Tim’s dental bonding, he came to our Arlington Heights cosmetic dentist, Dr. Engelberg for a full mouth rehabilitation that could help him smile confidently again. Watch the video below to hear about his smile transformation that began with improving Tim’s oral health.
Tim’s Smile Makeover Story
Restorative Dentistry in Arlington Heights
As a cosmetic and restorative dentist, Dr. Engelberg is not only interested in the aesthetics of your smile but also reclaiming your optimal oral health with conservative dental treatments. For Tim, this meant addressing tooth decay inside a cracked tooth. Root canals save your teeth from more invasive dental procedures, like tooth extractions, by removing internal infection and building back tooth structure. In Tim’s case, Dr. Engelberg used a natural-looking porcelain crown to strengthen the affected tooth and restore aesthetic appeal.
Replace Dental Bonding with Porcelain Veneers
While dental bonding is a less expensive option than porcelain veneers, it can accumulate staining faster and become worn more quickly. Since Tim’s dental bonding was over 20 years old, he was in need of a cosmetic dentistry “re-do.” Dr. Engelberg replaced his old dental bonding with porcelain veneers. These authentic-looking veneers replaced stained front teeth with a dazzling white smile that helped Tim feel more confident in his professional atmosphere. Read more »
Quality dental care should always address smile issues with accuracy and durability. Unfortunately, not every dental procedure will meet your expectations. When old cosmetic dentistry work fails, our Arlington Heights cosmetic dentist, Dr. Brent Engelberg offers our patients another chance at a beautiful smile.
When Cosmetic Dentistry Fails
Porcelain veneers are one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry procedures in our Arlington Heights dental office. Our cosmetic dentist is highly experienced in determining accurate treatment plans and placing porcelain veneers. In fact, Dr. Engelberg teaches other dentists his proven effective and precise methods for designing and placing porcelain veneers in Total Advantage Live classes. Sometimes lower quality, or ill-placed porcelain veneers will crack under pressure, accumulating unsightly stains. These craze lines, or hairline fractures, occurred when Trent (pictured right) bit into a pita chip. See our video below to learn more about his smile makeover with Dr. Engelberg.
Replacing Damaged Veneers
Dr. Engelberg, our Arlington Heights cosmetic dentist, replaced Trent’s damaged porcelain veneers with high-end dental restorations, designed and fabricated in close collaboration with our professional ceramist, Brad Jones, FAACD. In addition, Dr. Engelberg brightened Trent’s smile with professional teeth whitening. This in-office teeth whitening procedure takes as little as an hour to brighten your teeth nine shades whiter for fantastic results.
Laser Gum Reshaping
As a finishing touch to Trent’s smile restoration, Dr. Engelberg performed laser gum reshaping to create an even, ideally framed smile. Gum contouring is often used as a complement to cosmetic dentistry, ideally framing your new smile. These subtle changes make a big impact on your image by reshaping your gum line. Additionally, laser gum contouring allows for more precise treatment and quicker healing. Read more »
When most people think of cosmetic dentistry, they imagine flawless smiles from teeth whitening or porcelain veneers. In reality, almost every dentistry service can be considered cosmetic. Preventive dentistry like dental cleanings can remove surface stains and prevent gum disease from causing tooth loss, while restorative dentistry can replace missing teeth, or use white fillings for cavities. Our Arlington Hills cosmetic dentist takes this into consideration when giving patients like Claudia (pictured right) beautiful and functional smile makeovers.
Bruxism and Cosmetic Dentistry
One of the quickest ways to ruin your smile is teeth grinding. Bruxism, or chronic teeth grinding occurs when patients continually clench or grind their teeth together throughout the day and especially during sleep. This harmful dental condition wears away tooth enamel, making teeth more susceptible to cavities and tooth sensitivity.
Extreme teeth grinding can also chip or fracture cosmetic restorations like porcelain veneers, crowns, and dental bonding. That’s why our Dr. Engelberg not only addressed Claudia’s cosmetic issues with her smile, but also helped prevent her teeth grinding from harming her dental restorations. Using an oral appliance at night, Claudia can prevent her teeth from exerting extreme pressure on her new dental crowns.
Claudia’s Before and After Pictures
Addressing Tooth Loss with Cosmetic Dentistry
Claudia’s beautiful new smile is a result of careful treatment planning that addressed multiple aspects of your dental health. Dr. Engelberg replaced a missing tooth with a dental bridge. This dental restoration attaches to the two surrounding teeth with natural-looking porcelain crowns that hold the artificial tooth in place of the missing tooth. Dr. Engelberg also replaced a very unconvincing dental bridge on Claudia’s front teeth which did not align with her gums. Replacing her old, metal dental bridge, a new porcelain bridge blended with her gum line, creating more natural-looking tooth replacement without the dark lines that give away old dental work.
Additionally, our cosmetic dentist, Dr. Engelberg placed seven porcelain crowns to replace more outdated, failing dental work. This enhanced Claudia’s smile aesthetics while improving her bite. Finally, laser gum contouring gave her new smile the finishing touches to make her new restorations appear even. Read more »

These cosmetic dental restorations are made from porcelain shells about the same thickness as a contact lens. Our cosmetic dentist attaches each veneer to the front of your teeth using conservative tooth preparation and dental bonding. This transforms your smile, covering multiple smile imperfections in as little as two office visits. After a thorough cosmetic consultation, Dr. Engelberg will create specifications for a professional ceramist to fabricate your porcelain veneers. At your second appointment, our cosmetic dentist will secure the veneers to the front of your teeth and make adjustments for your smile.
What smile imperfections do porcelain veneers cover?
Veneers can hide craze lines(cracks in your tooth enamel), light discoloration or staining, chipped teeth, and misshapen teeth. Also called instant orthodontics, porcelain veneers can close gaps between your teeth or create even spacing, while hiding the appearance of crooked teeth. Veneers can also smooth jagged tooth edges or create a desired tooth shape and size depending on your facial structure and bite.
